Club Officers

The executive committee of a Toastmasters club consists of seven elected club officers, the Immediate Past President, and a Mentoring Co-ordinator. In Waverly Communicators, we are fortunate to cover all these roles, with a member who has even taken two: all this to manage smoothly the club’s administrative affairs.

Meet the club officers of  Waverley Communicators 2019-2020:

Andrew Grant – President

The President is the CEO of the club and is responsible for fulfilling the mission of the club. The President chairs the committee meetings; provides helpful, supportive leadership; and is the club’s representative at District and International level.

I joined Toastmasters in 2014 as I recognised how beneficial it was to my partner’s development both personally and professionally and she encouraged me to come along to a few meetings to see what it was like. I could see it was a friendly and yet formal atmosphere that enhanced learning in a safe environment for members. I think I have learned as much from doing the different roles at the club meetings as I have with the speeches on the pathway. It was also good fun and I have met and made friends with many interesting people from all over the world!

Fun fact : I love playing board-games and have a collection of around 200, Some games

019Patrick Bundy – Vice President Education & Immediate Past President

The VPE is responsible for planning, organising and directing club meetings and programmes; scheduling speeches and roles; and monitoring member progress.

Dan Haycraft – Vice President Membership

The VPM ensures individual member retention; makes guests feel welcome and provides them with the information they need to join.

CaptureJacek Lasota – Treasurer

The Treasurer manages the club’s funds and bank account; submits members’ dues to TMI headquarters; and keeps up-to-date records of the club’s finances.

Jacek joined Toastmasters in November 2011 in Warsaw, Poland – his hometown, and after moving to Edinburgh four years ago, one of the first things on his list was to find a new Toastmaster club. This is how he got to Waverley Communicators. Toastmasters has helped him a lot to improve his communication skills and he is grateful for the opportunity of meeting so many interesting and positive people. He has severed the club as Vice President of education and President and he is an active member in the local Toastmaster community. Every meeting is a possibility to learn something new and he applies his skills at work.

Anna Maria Maciejuk – Secretary

The Secretary manages the club’s records and files; takes the minutes at committee meetings; and has custody of the club’s charter, constitution and bylaws.

Eileen Scott – Seargent At Arms

The SAA is responsible for the management of the club’s property, meeting room preparation and hospitality.

Paul Bailey – Mentoring Co-ordinator

The Mentoring Co-ordinator is a non-executive member of the committee and is responsible for matching mentors with mentees and managing the club’s mentoring process.

Zhirong Ma “Zizi” – Vice President Public Relations

The VPPR publicises the club and its activities to members and to the outside world; updates the blog; promotes club events; and safeguards the Toastmasters brand.
